Dependency Explorer

Dockable panel (typically next to Compiler Results) that shows how the current selection relates to the rest of the Blueprint.

Version: shipped in 1.4.6+, refined in 1.5.0 (colors match the outline tree).

Section Meaning
Fed by Input expression per pin
Feeds into Downstream consumers of outputs
Calls Local functions / custom events invoked by the graph
Overrides / Interfaces Parent override + implemented interfaces
Cross-references Written by / Read by / role groups

How to use

  1. Keep Dependency Explorer open beside Compiler Results (or restore it from the Window menu).
  2. Single-click an outline item to preview dependencies without stealing focus from your workflow.
  3. Double-click a navigable Dependency row to jump to the node or open a referenced asset.

Fed by

  • Shows each input pin as PinLabel = with a human-readable expression.
  • Reroute nodes are traversed; literal noise is limited to meaningful values.
  • Example: Foot Step = @SpawnActor B Foot Step.

Feeds into

  • Lists immediate downstream consumers of each output pin.
  • Format resembles Pin → Consumer (Pin).

Calls

  • Lists local Blueprint functions and custom events invoked from the selected node’s graph.
  • Rows may show kind icons; colors follow the same node title colors as the outline tree.

Overrides / Interfaces

  • Overrides: parent override label; double-click opens the parent asset when available.
  • Interfaces: implemented interface names.
  • Native C++ types with no asset path are dimmed; tooltip explains that there is nothing to open.

Cross-references

Grouped by role labels such as:

  • Written by / Read by — variable sets/gets
  • Other roles (bind/unbind/broadcast, function call/definition, asset refs) as applicable

Why do I see EventGraph?

For variables (and similar targets) the cross-ref line shows the containing graph name, not the individual Set/Get node title.

  • If the write/read lives on the Blueprint Event Graph, the row correctly says EventGraph.
  • Multiple identical EventGraph lines mean multiple distinct nodes in that same graph (each remains navigable by double-click).
  • Pin-level detail for the current selection still appears under Fed by / Feeds into.

Notes

Colors

Entry colors use the live node title color when a graph node can be resolved; otherwise default foreground (no separate “kind palette”).

Tooltips

Long expressions use bounded tooltips so they do not stretch across the entire screen.
